“What do you think that is?” she asked me, again pointing with her stick; “that, where those cobwebs are?”
“I can’t guess what it is, ma’am.”
“It’s a great cake. A bride-cake. Mine!”
-Chapter 11, Great Expectations, Charles Dickens
A must for all Dickens fans and especially Great Expectations fans, here is our carefully blended Miss Havisham’s Cake candle. I always felt sorry for Miss Havisham, sitting in her decaying mansion in her mouldy old wedding dress, one shoe on one shoe off; surrounded by the remains of her wedding breakfast and bride cake, with the clocks stopped at twenty minutes to nine. Such an iconic and well known character that I thought she deserved her own candle, but instead of decaying, mice-eaten bride cake, I thought I would give her a better cake – one that smells like the most delicious of cakes!
One of my favourite books of all time, who doesn’t like tragic romance, nutty old ladies, convicts and young men with Great Expectations!
Is for one MISS HAVISHAM’S CAKE candle only. Any other items or props in the photo are not included and are shown for decorative purposes only.
creme fraiche, butter, lemon, buttercream, vanilla, powdered sugar
